i. Hazrat Shifa
Her name was Shifa and father's name was Abdullah bin Shams. Her mother's name was Fatima bint-e-Wahb. Hazrat Shifa got married to Hazrat Hashma bin Huzaifa Adwi . She embraced Islam before migration.Hazrat Shifa had a special affiliation with the Holy Prophet.He used to visit her house off and on. Hazrat Shifa had made a separate bed for the Holy Prophet. He used to sit on it and it absorbed the perspiration of the Holy Prophet and smelled quite fragrant. The things used by the Holy Prophet were definitely very sacred. The children of Hazrat Shifa kept these sacred items safe with them after her death.The Holy Prophet had also gifted a house to Hazrat Shifa in which she lived with her son. Hazrat Shifa knew reading and writing even in the period of ignorance. She has also narrated some hadiths from the Holy Prophet and Hazrat Umar. The total number of hadiths narrated by Hazrat Shifa is twelve.
ii. Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem
Her name was Sehla or Ramla. Her surname was Umm-e-Saleem and title was Ghamesa and Romesa. Her father's name was Malhan bin Khalid and mother's name was Maleeka bint-e-Malik. Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem was first married to Malik bin Nazar.Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem embraced Islam in the very early days in Madina. Her husband was a polytheist. Upon insisting to change his religion, he got angry with Umm- e-Saleem and left for Syria and died there. Later, Abu Talha sent his proposal for marriage but Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem laid the condition of embracing Islam. Hazrat Abu Talha embraced Islam. Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem waived off her mehr and said: "My Mehr is Islam." She sent her son Hazrat Anas to the Holy Prophet to serve the Messenger of Allah.
Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem also took a part n many holy battles.The Holy Prophet normally used to keep some women and specially Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem with him during the battles. These women used to give water to the people and dressed the wounded. Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem also took part in the battles of Uhud, Khyber and Hunain. She was holding a penknife in her hand during the battle of Hunain. The Holy Prophet asked: "What will you do with this penknife?" She replied: "If any polytheist will come near, I will tear off his belly." The Holy Prophet smiled upon listening her answer.Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem has also narrated some hadiths. The companions of the Holy Prophet used to ask questions from her regarding different matters. Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem loved the Holy Prophet a lot. The Holy Prophet used to visit her. Once the Holy Prophet drank water from the water skin (Mashk) from Umm-e-Saleem house. She cut that piece of water skin and preserved it with her as the Holy Prophet's lips had touched it. Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem was a patient, steadfast and generous lady.
While describing the virtue of Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem the Holy Prophetsaid: When I went to Paradise, I felt a sound, so I asked, "Who is it?" People said that the mother of Anas , Ghamisa bint Malhan.On one occasion, the Messenger of Allah was sitting in Masjid-e-Nabwi with his Companions. He saw Hazrat Anas and asked: Abu Talha along with all his companions. Abu Talha became worried to see all the Companions. He went to Umm-e-Saleem and said: What should be done now? Food is scarce and the Holy Prophet has come with a large number of people.Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem answered with great confidence and said, Allah and His Messenger know these things better. When the Holy Prophet came inside, Hazrat Umm-e-Saleem placed the same bread and curry in front of him. By the glory of Allah, the food became so blessed that all the people ate to their fill. iii. Hazrat Umm-e-Attiya
Her name was Nusiba bint Haris, surname was Umm-e-Attiya. She belonged to Abi Malik Bin Al-Najar, a tribe of Ansar. Hazrat Umm-e-Attiya embraced Islam before migration to Madina.Hazrat Umm-e-Atiya participated in seven battles during the Prophethood, in which she used to cook food for the men, safeguard the goods, look after the patients and dressed the wounded.Hazrat Zainab the daughter of the Holy Prophet .died in 8 Hijri. Hazrat Umm-e-Attiya and some other women together gave ghusal' to her.
Hazrat Umm-e-Attiya has also narrated some hadiths. The companions of the Holy Prophet and his followers used to learn the method of giving 'ghusal' to corpse from her. Hazrat Umm-e-Attiya specifically followed the commandments of the Holy Prophet . The points on which she promised while taking the oath of allegiance by the Holy Prophet, she always stood by them.Among all these life histories of the Sahabiyaat (, there is a lesson for the Muslim women that they should lead their lives according to the commandments of Allah and the Holy Prophetplay a discriminating role in different fields of life and bring honour to their nation.
